Dental Anxiety and Sedation Dentistry

At Mounts Dental Care, we are aware that there are people who have anxiety or fear coming to the dentist. This usually stems from a past negative experience. At our office, we work hard to establish a comfortable atmosphere and trusting relationships with our patients to avoid negative experiences.

Dolly Dolly is our Dental Comfort Dog! She is a Golden Retriever that has been specifically trained for our office. She is able to stay by the chair or lay in your lap to offer comfort during cleanings or procedures. If you would like Dolly at your appointment, make sure you request her when you schedule!

Conscious Sedation Mounts Dental Care offers nitrous oxide sedation or “gas” to help alleviate anxiety. This helps the patient to feel calm and more relaxed with treatment but still aware of what is going on. The great thing about using nitrous is once it is removed, the effects go away. Because of this, you do not need a driver afterwards.

Moderate Sedation Mounts Dental Care now offers in office, moderate sedation. With moderate sedation, we use various oral medications before and during your dental procedure as needed to help alleviate anxiety. During the appointment you can expect to fall asleep or be unaware of the treatment being done. For moderate sedation, you will need a driver to bring you to your appointment and take you home.
