Dental Crowns, Same Day Crowns, and Dental Bridges
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a custom designed protective covering that helps restore a tooth to its normal form and function. When cemented into place, a dental crown completely covers and protects the visible portion of the tooth.
There are various reasons our Dentists would recommend a dental crown for a tooth:
• Deep decay
• Broken, Chipped, or Cracked tooth
• Older filling wearing out
• Discoloration
• Close spacing
• Restore length to a tooth with wear
• Root Canalled tooth
• Cover a dental implant
Crowns are either made by a lab or made same day in our office. It is determined by Dr. Mounts or Dr. Pearson which option would be best for our patients. If a crown is made by the lab, you can expect to wear a temporary crown for 2-3 weeks. If it is a same day crown, our dentists will use 3D digital imaging to scan and make your crown in office. Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is similar to a dental crown. The main difference is that a dental bridge is two or more crowns fused together that attach to your natural teeth to replace a missing tooth. Dental bridges can restore chewing function, create better appearance of your smile and face shape, and improve your oral health.
Dental Implants
A missing tooth can be a problem for many reasons. The space from a missing tooth can cause problems ranging from trouble eating and biting to gradually shifting the remaining teeth. Many people also experience feelings of self-consciousness when they’re missing a tooth, and sometimes those feelings can leave people not wanting to smile or show their teeth.
If this describes you, then you could benefit from a prosthetic tooth like a dental implant. A dental implant is a great long term option to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. Implants feel and function like a natural tooth. An implant is a titanium screw that is placed in the jawbone to act as the foundation for a dental crown, bridge, or denture to be placed.
